CARE Hospitals Organises Safety Awareness Fair to Strengthen Patient Safety Culture

A missed warning sign, delayed emergency response or a lapse in hand hygiene can put patient safety at risk. Highlighting the importance of early recognition, timely intervention and infection prevention, CARE Hospitals organised Safety Awareness Fair 2026 at its Corporate Office in Hyderabad on Friday. The initiative is part of CARE Hospitals' ongoing efforts to strengthen a culture of safety across its facilities through employee awareness, emergency preparedness and safer healthcare practices.

Organised by the Department of Quality & Patient Safety, Corporate Office Cluster II, in collaboration with the Quality Team of CARE Hospitals, Hitec City, the fair featured interactive demonstrations and practical learning activities covering three key areas — hand hygiene, early recognition of clinical warning signs and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).

The programme was attended by Dr. Pawan Kumar, CEO – India II; Shalabh Dang, President – Sales & Marketing; Dr.Vincy Ashok Tribhuvan, Vice President – Nursing Administration; and Rajeev Chouray, Head of Quality and Patient Safety – India II, Aster DM Quality Care Limited, along with doctors, nursing staff, senior officials and employees from various departments.

Healthcare experts highlighted that recognising early signs of patient deterioration can help clinical teams respond before a condition becomes more serious. Sudden breathing difficulties, altered consciousness, unusual changes in heart rate or blood pressure, and falling oxygen levels are among the warning signs that may require urgent medical attention. The sessions emphasised the importance of promptly alerting clinical teams to enable appropriate medical intervention.

Under the message "Clean Hands Save Lives," practical demonstrations highlighted proper handwashing techniques and the importance of hand hygiene in reducing healthcare-associated infections. The fair also featured CPR awareness and hands-on learning activities, helping employees understand how to recognise a possible cardiac arrest, seek emergency assistance and respond appropriately until trained medical help arrives.

Dr. Pawan Kumar, CEO – India II, Aster DM Quality Care Limited, said, "Patient safety is one of the most important priorities in healthcare. While advanced medical technology and clinical expertise are essential, preventing avoidable harm is equally important. A strong safety culture begins with awareness, teamwork and timely action. Every employee, whether directly involved in patient care or working in a support function, has a responsibility to contribute to a safer healthcare environment."

Rajeev Chouray, Head of Quality and Patient Safety – India II, Aster DM Quality Care Limited, said, "A missed warning sign, delayed communication or a lapse in hand hygiene can put patients at risk. Recognising potential risks early and taking appropriate action can make a meaningful difference. Through this initiative, we want employees across all departments to understand the importance of following safety practices and responding promptly to concerns."

The fair also highlighted the important role of non-clinical teams in supporting patient safety. Employees from various corporate departments interacted with quality and patient safety professionals, gaining practical insights into infection prevention, emergency response and effective communication.

Held under the theme "One Team. One Mission. Safer Care," the programme reinforced the message "Your role may be corporate, but your impact is clinical," encouraging employees to apply safety principles in their everyday responsibilities.

The event concluded by emphasising that building safer hospitals requires continuous learning, teamwork and a shared commitment to preventing avoidable harm.
