Apollo Hospitals Hyderguda, Cardiac Rehab Foundation host run to raise heart health awareness

Apollo Hospitals, Hyderguda, in association with the Cardiac Rehab Foundation, organised the Cardiac Rehab Run on Necklace Road on Sunday to spread awareness about preventing early heart attacks.
The event drew fitness enthusiasts, cardiac patients, doctors and citizens, who underscored the role of regular exercise and lifestyle changes in maintaining heart health.
Dr. Rajeev Garg, senior consultant cardiologist, Apollo Hospitals, said younger Indians are increasingly vulnerable to heart disease due to sedentary lifestyles, stress and poor food habits. “Rehabilitation is not just for post-surgery patients but also for those who want to prevent a cardiac episode,” he said.
Doctors highlighted that 90 per cent of heart attacks are preventable with awareness and structured rehab programmes. Despite being a WHO Class 1A recommended initiative, cardiac rehab remains underused in India.
Regional CEO of Apollo Hospitals, Telangana, Mr. Tejesvi Rao Veerapalli, said the run also featured fitness demonstrations, awareness talks and stories from heart survivors. “Life after a heart attack is not about mere survival but about living stronger,” he added.
Regional COO, Dr. Rachapalli Reddyappa Reddy, said several heart patients who underwent rehab have now transformed their lives, even participating in marathons. The Hyderabad-based centre, India’s first advanced cardiac rehab facility, has already benefitted over 120 patients across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, he added.
