First-ever TAVR procedure in South-East Hyderabad performed at Aware Gleneagles Global Hospital

Hyderabad, May 10th, 2022: Doctors at the Aware Gleneagles Global Hospital, one of the leading healthcare facilities in the city, today announced that they have recently performed first-ever TAVR procedure in South-East Hyderabad territory. This highly specialized procedure was performed to save the life of a 72-year-old male patient, suffering from multiple heart related ailments for the past couple of years.

The patient, Mr. Raghava Rao, a native of Hyderabad, when brought to Aware Gleneagles Global Hospital on March 14th, was a victim of coronary artery disease and rheumatic heart disease. He was undergoing treatment for heart ailments for the past couple of years at a different healthcare facility, and even underwent three major procedures _ Pacemaker implantation, TAVR, and Hernia surgery _ within a short span of six months.

Conducting necessary examinations, we detected narrowing of aortic valve that carries blood from the heart. Considering his age and past record of undergoing other procedures, we opted to perform TAVR, which would allow us to replace aortic value through groin, without any surgery. We replace the natural valve with ‘Sapien III Edwards valve’, considered the best valve available in the World. The procedure was performed on March 15th and helped us discharge him from the hospital in just two days, on March 17th.”
