Doctors at Amor Hospitals perform a challenging procedure to cure a chronic sinus ailment

Hyderabad, March 30th, 2023: Doctors at Amor Hospitals, a multi-super specialty healthcare provider, today announced that they have performed a challenging procedure _ Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (FESS) _to cure a chronic sinus-related ailment in a middle-aged man. This procedure was performed using the most advanced and cutting-edge surgical navigation system, which enabled the surgical team access critical parts inside the head and corrected theethmoid sinusitis.

Mr. Hussaian, a native of Secunderabad was referred to Amor Hospitals with a suspicion of ‘cerebrospinal fluid’ leakage. This condition required a surgical intervention using most advanced systems, and the doctors, the support staff at Amor Hospitals had right equipment to undertake this challenging procedure, at affordable prices.

Commenting on the procedure, Dr. Praveen, ENT Consultant, Amor Hospitals, who led the surgical procedure said, “This 46-year-old patient was suffering from ethmoid sinusitis, which if left untreated, can lead to dangerous complications, because the sinuses are located near the eyes and skull. And to reach those regions, and to remove several layers of infected material, advanced equipment present inhouse at Amor Hospitals was used. The surgical navigation system used guided the team towards the right place and enable removal of diseased tissues. Any possible complications were avoided during the procedure and no damage was caused to the surrounding tissues and other critical structures like skull base, optic nerve, etc.”

Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (FESS) is a challenging procedure for otolaryngologists and is the main surgical approach for treating chronic sinusitis, to remove nasal polyps,to open-up the passageways, and also for any skull base surgeries. In this particular case, the patient was kept under constant observation for a couple of days post-surgery, and was discharged from the hospital post review.
