In association with “Care For Your Kidney Foundation”, STAR Hospitals had organized “Annual Kidney Day” at their state-of-the-art facility in Banjara Hills on 14th March, 2020. The event was graced by Her excellency, Dr TamilisaiSoundararajan, Governor of Telangana State and other renowned dignitaries.Dr. Gopichand Mannam, Managing Director,STAR Hospitals honoured her excellency with an inspiring welcome note.

 

STAR Hospitals has always been at the forefront and left no stone unturned in being updated with the best and sophisticated technology in the world of medical science.Intended to shed light on the latest advancements in the domain of Urology, the event turned out to be a grand success in elucidating the key valuable insights.The event started with the invocation of a Dialysis Patient, Mr. Hari Prasad.

 

The epicentre of the entire programme was Dr. M.K. Mani, a pioneer of nephrology in India. The Government of India awarded him with Padma Bhushan, the third highest civilian award, in 1991. He is also a recipient of the Dhanvantari Award (2011) and the Rabindranath Tagore Award. He has published over 125 medical papers.Dr.M.K. Maniderived innovative techniques and a new regimen in prevention and management of kidney disorders.

 

Dr. M.K. Mani was felicitated by Her Excellency, Dr.TamilisaiSoundararajan, Governor of Telangana. In honour of Dr. M.K. Mani, Dr. Vivekanand Jha delivered an insightful oration on “Public Health Interventions for management of kidney disease - Towards sustainable development goals”.

 

Another key highlight of the event was the thoughtful symposium on “Nephrotic Syndrome” by Dr. Sampath Kumar. Nephrotic syndrome is a kidney disorder that causes your body to pass too much protein in your urine. Nephrotic syndrome is usually caused by damage to the clusters of small blood vessels in your kidneys that filter waste and excess water from your blood. The condition causes swelling, particularly in your feet and ankles, and increases the risk of other health problems. The event was a prolific opportunity for the attendees to get acquainted with the latest happenings in the World of Urology.

 

The program was concluded with Clinical case discussions chaired by Dr. M.K. Mani &Dr. Vivekanand Jha.
