STAR Hospitals Hosts ‘STAR Synapse 2026’ to Bring Practical Artificial Intelligence into Everyday Clinical Practice
August 29, 2026: STAR Hospitals, Hyderabad, hosted STAR Synapse 2026 – Practical AI for the Modern Clinician, a one-day immersive workshop designed to help doctors and healthcare professionals move beyond the hype around Artificial Intelligence (AI) and understand how it can be practically and responsibly integrated into everyday clinical practice.
Held at STAR Hospitals, Nanakramguda, the workshop brought together clinicians and healthcare professionals for a hands-on learning experience focused on the real-world applications of AI across clinical, academic and operational workflows.
Unlike conventional technology conferences that focus largely on presentations and demonstrations, STAR Synapse was designed around a simple objective: to ensure that clinicians do not merely hear about AI, but actually learn to use it. Participants worked hands-on with AI tools and workflows that can be applied immediately in their professional practice.
The workshop covered a wide range of applications, including AI-assisted clinical documentation and discharge summaries, literature review and evidence discovery, clinical decision support, simulation-based medical education, creation of study aids, patient education and healthcare communication, as well as building customised AI chatbots, calculators and dashboards without coding.
A key focus of the programme was also on the responsible use of AI in healthcare. Clinicians were introduced to practical techniques for improving AI outputs, identifying hallucinations and factual inaccuracies, and understanding where AI can augment clinical thinking - and where human clinical judgement must remain central.
Speaking about the initiative, Dr. Gopichand Mannam, Chairman & Founding Promoter, STAR Hospitals Hyderabad, said, “AI is rapidly becoming an important part of the healthcare ecosystem, but its true value will come from how effectively and responsibly clinicians can use it. At STAR Hospitals, we believe technology should strengthen clinical expertise rather than replace it. STAR Synapse is an effort to bridge that gap by giving clinicians the confidence and practical skills to use AI meaningfully in their everyday work.”
“AI has the potential to fundamentally change how clinicians learn, research and manage information. But the real value lies in knowing how to use these tools effectively and critically. At STAR Synapse, we are focusing on practical applications that can save clinicians time, simplify complex information and enhance continuous learning. The aim is not to make doctors dependent on AI, but to empower them to use it as an intelligent assistant while keeping clinical judgement firmly at the centre,” said Dr. Rahul Katta, Senior Consultant and Group Lead – Emergency Medicine, STAR Hospitals, Hyderabad.
STAR Hospitals’ technology-led approach to healthcare
With AI increasingly influencing healthcare globally, STAR Hospitals is focusing on building a culture where clinical expertise and emerging technology work together. The institution's approach is centred on using technology to reduce avoidable administrative burden, support clinicians with information and evidence, enhance medical education and improve communication - while keeping patient safety and professional judgement at the core.
STAR Synapse is therefore not positioned as a technology programme alone, but as part of the hospital's larger commitment to future-ready clinical practice.
The workshop brought together experts from medicine, emergency care, oncology, health technology and AI, including clinicians with specialised training and experience in digital health, AI in medicine and healthcare innovation.
With initiatives such as STAR Synapse, STAR Hospitals aims to contribute to a healthcare ecosystem where clinicians are not passive users of technology, but are confident, informed and responsible adopters of AI.
As Artificial Intelligence continues to evolve, STAR Hospitals believes that the future of healthcare will not be defined by AI replacing doctors, but by doctors empowered with the right AI tools to deliver better, faster and more informed care.
