MicroPort forays into orthopedic implants

MicroPort Scientific announced its entry into coveted Indian markets of orthopedic implants with its full range of globally acclaimed products. The launch is a major step in the direction of becoming a key player in the medical devices space in the country, with MicroPort’s cardiovascular stent range having already made its mark in India. MicroPort aptly chooses to announce this launch in Hyderabad on the eve of AACH 2018, Annual Arthroplasty Conference slated to take place at Hyderabad International Convention Center on 24th & 25th February 2018.

Micrport’s prowess in the global orthopedic implants markets can be testified with the fact that in 2014, MicroPort acquired US-based Wright Medical’s OrthoRecon business—a group that has over 60 Years of Experience in joint implant development.

Mr. Riyaz Desai, Managing Director, MicroPort India, commented “Our much awaited orthopedic implant portfolio is now in India and we are extremely excited about it that within one year of our operations in India, this is our 2nd big launch. MicroPort’s ortho recon range for knees & hips is highly advanced with many unique features. The surgeons across USA, Europe and many other countries, many times consider our knee & hip implants as their first preference.”

MicroPort’s aMP (Advance Medial Pivot) Knee system is not based on traditional four-bar link or J curve rationale but is rather built on ball-in-socket principle, resulting in excellent patient satisfaction rate. aMP knee system presents high conformity to flexion stability and increased flexion potential and constant radius. Patients with aMP implants feel natural function of the knees with minimized Contact Stresses. In fact, in a recently conducted trial which was published in a very popular medical journal, the Advance Medial Pivot has shown 98.8% survivorship at 17 years with highest patient satisfaction of 94%.

MicroPort is also bringing in SuperPath, an innovative hip replacement procedure. Superior Percutaneously Assisted Total Hip is known to reduce skin incision, shorten length of stay, reduce 30-day readmission rate, reduce blood transfusion rate, reduce surgical time & blood loss, reduce postoperative & complication rate and bring down the post-discharge cost. In fact a globally renowned orthopedic surgeon from Australia, Dr. Sol Qurashi, Consultant Orthopedic Hip and Knee replacement Surgeon from Sydney Australia is performing a procedure in Krishna Institute of Medical Science (KIMS) Hospital, Secundrabad on 24th February, using SuperPath.

“It is opening of a new chapter in Indian MedTech industry, as this dynamic & promising Indian market has been showing a paradigm shift in its healthcare delivery mechanism. With the launch of our orthopedic implants, we will be able to better serve the Indian patients by giving them access to world-class technologies and leverage MicroPort’s vast experience and research in this space” added Mr. Desai.
