Health Advisory for People Travelling to Delhi

People travelling from different parts to Delhi must be careful as the smog can affect them badly.

The National Capital is under a grave situation covered in a blanket of thick haze with pollution levels breaching the acceptable standards by several notches. The schools are off, flights are delayed, and the health minister has also issued an advisory asking people to stay indoors.
Below are some precautionary measures one can take while travelling to Delhi during this season:
Hazards of air pollution
Difficulty in breathing
Running nose or cold
Throat or chest infection
Worsening of asthma symptoms
Irritation of the eyes and conjunctivitis
Skin diseases like eczema exacerbate
Health tips to prevent hazards of air pollution
Avoid stationary traffic: fumes from idling vehicles increases pollution hazards
Avoid going outdoors unnecessarily
Keep plants like alovera and ivy inside the home
Exercise in greener surroundings
Avoid roads with high rise buildings on either side
Those with asthma, chronic bronchitis, emphysema or COPD should be extra careful
Improve your immunity by eating a balanced diet and hydrating yourself well
Regulate your diabetes to help your immunity
Avoid smoking
Regularly clean the air filters in the air conditioners
