Robotic surgery of gall bladder at KIMS Kondapur

A 60 year-old female suffering from gall bladder stones who required remoal of gall bladder was successfully carried out at KIMS Hospitals, Kondapur. Dr. Vijay Kumar C Bada, Surgical Gastroenterologist and Head of Minimal access and Robotic Sciences Department performed the surgery.

 

The patient was able to move within four hours of surgery. She was able to have food on the same night and was discharged the next day.

 

 

Dr Vijay explained, "Robotic surgeries have an advantage over conventional open surgery to minimal access procedures and have shown the best outcomes in terms of recovery to the paitent.

 

Robotic surgery offers many advantages vis a vis conventional surgeries.

  Safety: It is of utmost importance. Human errors are negated by robotics.

 

  Minimal access: due to its enhanced manauevarability, the chances of conversion to open surgery is least.
