In India every minute four people die due to accidents on road. The incidents of pelvic, hip fractures are increasing in Hyderabad because of high speed road connectivity that could lead to an accident. The Telangana Othopaedic Surgeon’s Association (TOSA) along with Twin Cities Orthopaedic Society (TCOS) has organised an Annual Anthroplasty Conference Hyderabad on 11th May. Renowned Orthopaedic Surgeon Dr Ramesh Sen from Chandigarh also graced the event. The workshop on ‘Pelvi Acetabular and complex hip replacement’ was planned by eminent and senior orthopaedic surgeons Dr Uday Krishna Myneni and Dr Krishna Kiran.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Uday Krishna Myneni, Conference Organizing Secretary said, “Pelvis and hip bones protects vital organs like urinary bladder, genitals, blood vessels supplying lower limbs. People may die within few minutes to few hours if these fractures are not diagnosed early and treated accordingly in emergency specialised centres. As of now there is only handful of orthopaedic surgeons in entire twin states to handle such complex cases.”
“India is going to face increasing number of complex and revision hip replacement. This calls for a huge exercise to train the young orthopaedic surgeons. While driving, people should be more vigilant in wearing seat belts, avoid drunken driving and late night driving on high ways. Avoid over speeding since prevention is better than cure.” Dr Krishna Kiran, Conference Organizing Secretary added.
Eminent national and local Orthopaedic faculties had come from across the places like Mumbai, Chennai, Coimbatoreetc. They empowered their knowledge and trained the young orthopaedic surgeons on pelvic bone, acetabulum and hip fractures. Nearly 300 Orthopaedic surgeons across India attended the course and conference.
This conference focused on the management of patients with fractures of Pelvis and Acetabulum. The renowned faculty of experts shared an integrated multidisciplinary approach to comprehensive treatment. Surgical approaches too were video demonstrated by the experts. In addition to lectures and workshops, interactive sessions with the discussion of clinical scenarios, their optimal management along with case presentations were done.
