Dr Sarath Chandra mouli, Clinical Director department of rheumatology and clinical Immunology, KIMS Hospital, Secunderabad organised 2K WALK FOR ROAD SAFETY at Jalavihar, the necklace road, Secunderabad on 16 June 2019 in association with KIMS Hospitals, Secunderabad. This event aimed to increase traffic awareness and to bring down the number of accidents on the roads.
Mr VEMULA PRASHANTH REDDY, Minister of Transport, Road, Buildings, and Legislative Affairs Government of Telangana was the chief guest and special invitees Prof. Padmashri Kakarla Subba Rao, Former Director of NIMS, Chairman KIMS Foundation Research centre. Sri SGK Kishore Babu, CEO -GMR, Hyderabad International Airport PVT Ltd. Sri CN Raghu Prasad, Zonal Commissioner of GHMC, Secunderabad Zone, Dr Purnima A.Nagaraj, Consultant Psychiatrist, Dhrithi clinic, Hyderabad.
In this event, 1000 participants participate in the road safety 2K WALK at Jalavihar. Same walks were organised at several places at AP and TELANGANA (20 centres like Rajahmundry, Srikakulam, Vizag, Nellore, Ongole, Kurnool, Ananthapur, Ramachandrapuram, Malappuram, Cheriyal, Warangal, Nirmal, Aler and other places). All the participants and guests well appreciated this walk.
The chief guess and special invitees and the organisers very well stressed on the importance of road safety and usefulness of helmets, use zebra crossings, avoiding red signal jumping, carefully look for potholes, uneven speed breakers and the importance of footpaths and foot override. Mr Prashanth Reddy said that the government is introducing traffic syllabus in schools. Public needs education on what’s right of way, drunk driving, seat belt, lane discipline and texting and driving etc. Dr Sarath has organised this event as a part of his community project named as. ” Traffic awareness to avoid accidents ”( TATAA).
Victims of the road traffic accidents shared their stories that moved participants and helped understand the aftermath effects of accidents By creating awareness, we can bring down the accident rates significantly — the program ended by taking the pledge from all the 2K Walk Participants on Road safety.
As our roads get increasingly busier, road safety for both motorists as well as pedestrians is becoming a prime concern. It is important to realize that as citizens and road users, every one of us can and must contribute in our own way to realizing the goal of making our city’s roads safer.
It is really commendable that We4U has organized this Walk for Road Safety, which I am sure will help to raise awareness about this important issue amongst Hyderabad’s citizen’s and road users and contribute to making the roads safer for everyone Mr Kishore Babu ,CEO- GMR said.

It is now known that road related stress rates highest as the leading cause of anxiety , depression, behavioural issues and other psychosocial stress such as road rage. Reckless driving, driving while in an inebriated state is is an all to common occurrence these days. safety on the road can help manage stress and related stress disorders. Breaking rules isn't fun! it can take lives!
