A new Gastroenterology Department was inaugurated at STAR Hospitals on 28th June 2017. Named the STAR Institute of Gastroenterology, this department has been launched to provide comprehensive care for conditions related to the stomach, liver, pancreas, oesophagus, colon, small intestine, etc.
The Department was inaugurated by Dr Narsaiah Goud, MP of Bhongir and a pioneering Laparoendoscopic Surgeon. The Gastroenterology team presently consists of 4 highly experienced doctors, namely Dr E Ramanjaneyulu, Dr Anandakumar, Dr Nalin Kanth and Dr Ravindranath.
Dr Anandkumar has over 20 years of experience in Surgical Gastroenterology. He has a host of degrees to his name, including an FRCS(Ed), DLS (France), FSGE (NIMS) and an MD in Liver Transplantation. He has received his training in Surgical Oncology from Prof. M Chandrasekhar, India's leading Surgical Oncologist at Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology, Bangalore. He has performed over 20,000 procedures till date.
Dr Anandkumar has also successfully performed one of the world's largest Hepatic Artery Aneurysm Resections during his tenure as a GI and HBP Surgeon. He specialises in Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgeries, with a special interest in Liver Transplantation.
Dr E Ramanjaneyulu holds an MBBS from Osmania Medical College, an MD (Internal Medicine) the Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences and a DM (Gastroenterology)from OsmaniaMedicalCollege. He is a Gastroenterologist, Hepatologist and Therapeutic Endoscopist. With over 18 years of experience, he has carried out a record number of therapeutic endoscopic procedures, numbering close to a lakh. He is also a life member of the prestigious Indian Society of Gastroenterology (ISG) and Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy of India (SGEI).
Dr Ravindranath has an MBBS from Mamata Medical College, Khammam and an MS (General Surgery) from KIMS, Amalapuram. This Surgical Gastroenterologist has received Laparoscopic training at GEM Hospital, Coimbatore and also published papers in various National Journals & Publications.
Dr Nalin Kanth holds an MBBS from CMS, Nepal and an MS in General Surgery from Kasturba Medical College, Manipal. He has over 4 years of experience in Surgical Gastroenterology and participated in National Conferences across India. He received his Basic Laparoscopic Training from GEM Hospital in Coimbatore.
