People all over the world are now more or less conscious about physical fitness. Either opting for regular gym sessions or jogging or swimming in the morning or attending meditation classes in the evening - there are ample avenues to revitalize energy and remain physically fit. When it comes to mental fitness, often people end up scoring own goals. In the present world of deadlines and digitized emotions, most people end up sabotaging their own mental health. It is similar for people coming from all walks of life and there are various parameters which remain testimony to such. Among them, no doubt, relationships hold key to mental fitness to a considerable extent.
Relationships do not necessarily mean or imply romantic ones; rather it categorically includes all strata of life - be it professional or private life or those not defined by such. Whether personal stress is putting a toll upon a relationship or not is a serious question. Often it is seen that stress arises from miscommunication and irrational behaviour and finally auto-tunes to unwanted stress. A stressful relationship doesn't help in being mentally fit and also stretches an individual from a point beyond personal tolerance level.Be it bitterness, resentment, discomfort, anger, disappointment, guilt, shame, sadness - stressful relationship brings all such perspectives in an individual. Mental fitness is closely associated with mental wellness. 'Wellness' in this aspect is different from what people generally perceive. Happiness is rather the most discussed word which is directly proportional to mental fitness. Thus perfect or judicious implementation of relationship management is all about rational understanding of the social reality. Depression, which is the most relevant term at present, is actually characteristic of a person who is mentally unfit and both instability in relationship can be blamed for that.
No doubt, when a stressful relationship triggers depression, it is a case of suppressing mental fitness. But the opposite is also true as well. When a relationship works fine or weathers the storms or challenges, all credit goes to the particular relationship for empowering mental fitness. For people going through unhealthy relationships, the primary task is to consult a therapist or psychologist. If it is a case of serious depression resulting from a turbulent relationship, ample care has to be taken. Nowadays online and offline counseling classes have become very common in this regard.
