Summer season has just arrived on the doorstep. Along with it comes many problems like rashes, skin infections and itchy bumps. Summer is awaited by everyone as it is a chance to relax and hit the beaches for vacation but problems like these alter and ruin the happy family times.
How to fight these unwanted guests? Some tips are listed below from eminent doctors, Dr Deepti Dillon from Apple Skin Clinic and Dr Sumit Gupta from Skinnovation.
Why do These Rashes Occur
A number of reasons can be cited for this. Dr. Sumit explains, “As the skin adapts to new conditions, the sebaceous glands and sweat glands which secrete oil and sweat respectively are altered due to the change of seasons. Hence rampant excretion of oils and sweat takes place that may cause itchiness, acne and rosacea. Areas where two skins are in constant contact like groin, elbows and armpits are the prime places where fungal infections can develop.
Dr. Dipti explains, “For women, summer wrecks havoc even more as the cosmetics that they use are not well adept to combat the scorching heat of the sun. Thus it may cause skin redness, itchiness and red patches. Fragrances and preservatives in cosmetics are often to blame for the allergies.” Going for swimming is cool but with uncomfortable swimwear, it definitely isn't. Also avoid swimming in water that seems contaminated or unclean.
How to Beat the Heat and Keep These Infections at Bay
Dr. Dipti has a great alternative that you can choose : Buy products which have the least amount of ingredients. Hair colours should be fragrance-free, ammonia free and ppd free. Look out for natural and organic products that have the least number of chemicals.” Dr. Summit suggests to cover up as much as possible. Wear loose fitting clothes, wear fabric that is breathable, cover head with umbrella or scarf. Keep the sensitive areas like groin and armpits clean and wipe them dry. This avoids condition of hyperhidrosis where excessive sweating takes place. Also use sunscreen that are non greasy and non drippy. Wear makeup that is mineral based and gives matte finish.”

Staying hydrated is the key here. Drink a glass of water every hour. Take lemon shots at regular intervals.
Start your day by adding a spoon of apple cider vinegar in lukewarm water.
Take plenty of antioxidants.
Avoid the sun. Apply cucumber mask on your face after coming back from outside.
Use hats and big sunglasses to avoid UVA and UVB rays.
