William “Jody” Wilkinson, MD, Associate Professor of Exercise and Sports Science, APU, says that human beings are multidimensional beings who are not just limited to the physically healthier side but also are made up of other dimensions as well.
The addressal to these other dimensions is also important.
Indeed physical health is the key and solves many problems but as humans, there isalso a spiritual, emotional and relational aspect that are intertwined and inseparable.
The balance of all these effects the generic well being of a person.Azusa Pacific University or APU works behind creating a wellness mindset for students,faculty and staff. It helps to lay a strong foundation in terms of physical, emotional andspiritual sound behaviour. Some key goals highlighted by APU’s wellness experts are listed below.
These are small changes one can make that can help him attain a sound mindset and an active body that is capable of energizing and healing itself.
Identify Your End Goal: Chalk out ideas and activities that motivate and mobilize you. Indulge in sports that involve your mind and keep you engaged and happy. Also scan your body in general and find out what wellness benefit you concern most. If you are not getting enough time with your kids or spouse, make out time for it. If you want to discover the creative side of yourself, take out time for your hobbies like painting and dancing. You can also take up some new classes to hone your skills and widen your horizon like cooking, driving or swimming classes.
Identify your Roadblocks: Recognise what stops you in achieving your goal. Staying away from negative people and negative vibes is equally important as leading to positivity. Make a point to learn a good quote each day and abide by it, thus channelizing time and energy in a good direction. Avoid company of those who bring out the stress in you and not the best in you.
Set Small Achievable Goals: Happiness and well being begin with small steps. Aim to exercise an extra 5 minutes or include at least one green vegetable in your meal each day. Thus by following all these rituals diligently, a generic happiness and well-being can be attained.
